Description:

We don't have any open page swaps at the moment, and we have several new members, so I thought I'd run a nice easy page swap.

Mosaic pages give a huge range of things you can do with them, from purely abstract collage to themed patchwork background. Your mosaics should be made of 4x4 1-inch squares of paper, and you should add some sort of embellishments or design on top of the mosaic. You will be making 1 page each for 5 partners, so not too taxing but enough to start a book ;)

(I've done a swap like this before - the swap image is what I made last time. Nathalie's Flickr pool has some other lovely examples - this is my favourite.)

The pages should be 4" x 4.5" with the leftmost 0.5" left unembellished. (Some people cut this part off, others will use it for binding or punching, so it may not be seen and needs to fit into a binding machine or hole punch.) You should use paper that is very thick, or card. Although you don't need to decorate the back of the page, please do at least cover it with some nice paper so that it doesn't look out of place in a final bound book.

**NB: I've only left a fortnight for sending, but this includes 2 weekends, and as it's only 5 pages and doesn't need to be tailored to your partners, this should helpfully be fine!

Rules:

  • Newbies welcome. The group does ask that you jump into the world of chunk books by joining a multi-partner page swap before committing to a full book, so this is ideal. Experienced chunky page artists also welcome, 'natch!
  • Rating of at least 4.8 with no recent no sends.
  • International, 5 partners.
  • Flakers will not be allowed to join any further group swaps until after they have made good on any swaps outstanding.

Any questions, please PM me or comment :)

I dropped from this swap yesterday b/c I didn't think I'd have enough supplies, and I'm pretty broke right now. But...I just got back from thrifting, where I found a whole package of 5x5 origami paper (perfect for chunkies!) for $.49, a ziploc full of embellishments & doodads for $.99, and a gallon size ziploc full of embroidery floss for $1.99(not so much for chunkies, but for other things). I've never found so many crafting goodies in one trip to a thrift store before. Woohoo...I'm back in! :)

Wow, that's a great shop, there! We don't get "thrift stores" like you guys seem to, from the sounds of it - our closest would be charity shops, and they throw out anything that they think wouldn't sell or is "junk". Or pound stores, but they're basically the same (I assume) as dollar stores, and full of new tat ;) (Or maybe I just live and work int he wrong kinds of places....!)

If you've got any old magazines or flyers with nice colourful pictures, they work pretty well on this kind of page too - or even old photos! Though origami papers would make a cool theme with an origami embellishment too ;) (oooh, now there's an idea....)

Sent all mine today along with some of the garden quote pages where I had the same partners ( weyrmistress & glamazon07 )

I've added a day to the deadline for posting, as I missed today's post because the site was variously down and slow, so I couldn't get the last few addresses - and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Site fluctuations shouldn't be a cause of late posting :)
