Pinback Buttons #2 US only
Swap Coordinator:MrsMJ (contact)
Swap categories: Jewelry  Accessories  Art
Number of people in swap:6
Location:Other
Type:None
Last day to signup/drop:April 12, 2008
Date items must be sent by:April 26, 2008
Number of swap partners:3
Description:

If you do not have a button maker or access to nice quality pinback buttons, you shouldn't participate in this swap.

You will make (or buy) 3 buttons for 3 partners (9 buttons total). These should be the (roughly) 1 inch size buttons unless your partners state that they don't mind other sizes.

Try to take your partners profiles into consideration when selecting the buttons to send them.

Be creative. Can you make a button unlike any button you've ever made before? It's not a requirement, but it's a fun challenge. :)

This swap is US only. Newbies who have a link to at least one image of at least one button they have made (using flickr or something) are welcome to join. Otherwise, you should have over a 4.5 rating and no no-sends in the past 3 months.

I would love to join in this swap, but I do not have a button maker. Could someone please point me in the direction of obtaining one?

My button maker's 1 1/4". Would anyone mind that? I'll drop out if so, but they're very close to the 1" size. :)

dorsia:

One and a quarter inch buttons are fine according to the rules of the swap (Roughly 1") It's because of the brand that you have, they make 1.25" but not 1" so you shouldn't be punished for that. :)

I have two button makers one I hate and one I love. The one I hate cost around $100 and it's a Badge-a-Minit one (http://www.badgeaminit.com/) I don't like it because it messes up about 5 out of every 6 buttons I try to make. I called the company to see why and they couldn't really help me. Annoying. The other button maker I have I absolutely LOVE!! It is from www.buttonbiz.com and cost $360 (it came with 1000 button blanks a cutter and free shipping) It only messes up buttons I try to do really weird stuff with.

I know it's pretty expensive of an initial investment, and I really do NOT expect anyone to buy one of these things just to participate in this swap. But if button making is something you think you might get into, it's pretty fun. :)

Pretty much the same folks signed up for both the pinback swaps and I did get a repeat of a partner I need to send to. Is it OK if I send both in one envelope? They'll be getting 6 buttons instead of just three then.

I'm sure that would be fine, but just to be sure that they keep it straight and you get credit for both swaps I might separate them or label them as being for both swaps. :)
