You've heard of sticker bags and label bags, let's try ATC bags!

If you already have an established one to pass along from the other swaps, that's great! If not, here's how to start one:

Take a small envie and write your name and address on one side of it. On the other side, write instructions such as "take out two ATCs and add three". Have numbered lines for persons who have participated to sign on. Indicate that the last person to sign should send it home. You can include any other instructions, such as whether or not the ATCs should be made by the swapper or if you accept pass alongs. Put your three (or however many you indicated) ATCs inside the envie. I usually start a new bag with a few extras to give the first recipient more from which to choose. This is your ATC bag.

Put the ATC bag (envie) inside another envie to mail to your swap partner.

You will receive a bag from your other partner. You will select ATCs to keep, and add additional ones to the bag. Hold onto the bag until another swap opportunity. Then you will send it along its way.

Is there a recommended number of address areas (recipients) to specify, such as 5 (that is, the 5th recipient sends the bag home)?

vick302000 12/13/2012 #

Yes all bags usually have that specification or they my go on forever and some still do. I don't like to do more than 5 because it takes so long for the bag to get home if there is more. That is just my thought you can put on as many participants as you want.

Are you going to make this a series so that we can have more opportunities to pass on? Sorry I'm pretty new to the swap scene so I'm not 100% sure how these types of swaps work

Alaskanblonde84 12/13/2012 #

We get 1 partner and the small envie has 5 ATC's in it then we take two ATC's and put in 3 others to replace then mail it to our partner then they do the same eccept they will have a different person to send to.

Am I right?

ArtsOnFire 12/16/2012 #

I like to put in more than five to give a larger selection.

kirkproductions 12/17/2012 #

@ArtsOnFire Here's another way to look at it...the more you put in the bag to begin with, the more you will get back. For example, if you start with 3, and you specify that the bag should come home after the 5th recipient, you will receive 8 ATCs, but if you start with 5, you will receive 10.

@Alaskanblonde84 You will send a bag with at least 3 ATCs in it (preferably closer to 5) to your partner. A different partner will send you a bag that might be brand new or it might have been swapped at least once before. You will take 2 ATCs from that bag and add 3 to it of your own...then HOLD the bag until another swap of this nature, or a private swap or local swap opportunity comes along. Then send it on to someone else. In turn, after your own bag has made the rounds, it should be sent back to you. I hope this helps.

@beadqueene Yes, I believe this swap is a series, and there is another coordinator who is running a similar swap. Furthermore, you do not have to wait for an organized, public swap to be formed; you could trade bags with a friend any time. Just make sure when the fifth partner has added to the bag (or nth partner, depending on how many partners were specified by the original sender), the bag is sent "home".

An ATC bag packet is en route to my partner. Enjoy.
