Description:
I love fairies in a jar and need a winter one for my collection! If you don't know what a fairy in a jar is, you can do a search online, or some people call them captured fairies. You usually use a fairly good sized jar so that your fairy has some room (fairies perfer glass jars). Then decorate your jar with a nice wintery theme (I'm thinking snowflakes, whites, silvers, etc). If you want you can check your partner's profile for ideas. Then find yourself a fairy. If you can't find one hiding in your garden, you can try to search for fairy images online, print one on heavy paper (or glue to heavy paper), and cut out. Make sure everything in your jar is glued down well, and make sure it is packaged well, so that your fairy and her home arrive safely to your swap partner. Don't forget to include your fairy's name, and you may include a note about her if you wish. Newbies are OK if you have a nice profile. Otherwise no recent bad ragings. I probably can't angel this one, so don't sign up if you are not committed to this.

Try Googling for "fairy in a jar" and "craft", together. That's how I found the articles from Cut Out and Keep and Pollyanna Reinvents that I read.

Oh, and a YouTube search for "fairy in a jar" returned tutorials from Suzi Blu and Cool2Craft T.V., among others.

Is there a size requirement, or can it be any size we want? Does it have to be a paper fairy?

This sounds fun, but I've never made one or received one, so I will definitely have to google this. I love fairies and look forward to receiving my first fairy in a jar.

No liquid. Your fairy does not have to be paper. You can make a clay fairy, or any other medium you like.

I hope you host another one of these! I am traveling during the time that this swap is due. I just made a practice one though, a spring fairy made of wire and fake flowers and decorated the jar with spring scrapbook paper and have her sitting on a rose branch. My daughter has already put the fairy in her room and asked for supplies to make one herself!

Usually larger jars are better so you have room for your fairy, and a (wintery) scene for her to live in. :) I suppose you could use a smaller jar if you are good at doing small details.
