Hybrid greeting card/zine (festive edition)

Create a mini-zine that doubles up as a festive greetings card.

At first glance, your zine should look like a Christmas/Seasonal Greetings card, and include a space inside for the giver to write a note to the recipient.
When the 'card' is opened, it should reveal the pages of a mini-zine for the recipient to read. The mini-zine contents can be seasonally themed or not (sender's choice), but given that it is intended as a mini festive gift, please try to avoid anything which may be potentially offensive.

The greeting card can celebrate any aspect of the festive season – Christmas (from Santa to the Nativity), Kwanzaa, Yuletide etc. If you are likely to be offended by a greeting which celebrates a different aspect of the festive season than that which you celebrate yourself, please do not join this swap!

How you create the hybrid zine is up to you. From the front it should have the appearance of a greeting card, but from the inside it should read like a zine (albeit with a gift-giving To/From page). The greeting card part should be integral to the zine and not loose/separate. A couple of format suggestions:

• a standard folded 8-page mini with the greetings on front & back cover (or front cover plus one of the inner cover pages)
• a separate cardstock cover with a mini-zine stapled/bound inside
• a quarter-size cover (standard greeting card size) with zine bound inside
• some other variation on the theme!

The minimum size of card/zine hybrid is a standard 8-page mini folded from a single sheet of A4 or letter-size paper, but may be larger or smaller or with different format/binding, as you prefer. If you opt for a quarter size card/zine however, it should include at least a single-fold insert making a total of 8 quarter-size pages (yes, more than if you were to go with standard mini version), so that the zine aspect is still apparent. Maximum page size is approx. 4" x 6" (A6/quarter-size).

You will send each of your partners 3 copies of your card/zine hybrid: one written from you to them, and 2 unwritten, for their own use.

Please check your partners' location & last posting dates for Christmas from your country to theirs. Be thoughtful & send early if it means there is more chance of your card-zine arriving in time!
