This will be my first swap. :) I'm glad you're the host!

user4445 10/24/2006 #

i totally want to do this! but i'm really broke right now, hopefully i can do the next one.

user4453 10/24/2006 #

I have never done one of these before. good idea! yay!

user2320 10/24/2006 #

Fabulous idea! The possibilities are so vast .....

user4386 10/26/2006 #

I love herbal teas...and Earl Grey. Also, if you have back issues of Martha...

I think it would be great if ppl would comment on what kind of magazines they like. This is going to be so much fun! What a great swap idea...thanks!

Hagit 10/28/2006 #

I would love to receive mixed media and/or scrapbooking magazines, many thanks!

user4454 10/29/2006 #

i love real simple magazine or anything that has to do with home decorating!!

user2195 10/29/2006 #

i like the teen and gossip magazines, if my partner needs something to send me, yarn is a perfect gift for me:)

user4443 11/ 1/2006 #

this is my first swap so i was wondering how/when do we find out who we are swapping with?

Farruska 11/ 1/2006 #

yey! cold is finally here so this is perfect :) to my partner: my profile is (I think) very complete, but let me just add a few spices for this swap :) I love mittens, gloves and scarves but don't wear wool winter woodies love to stay indoors with a nice cup'of tea (anything but grapefruit - see profile why), or reading a magazine, recepie. If my partner is from US I'd love to have one Oprah magazine issue :( don't get it anywhere around here...

and now for my partner-to-be, if you like magazines I have to warn that around here I only get german magazines (there are of course international in some bookstores but they are way overpriced - for example one portuguese gossip mag that costs 1.25 euros is sold here at 5 euros!)

user3788 11/ 2/2006 #

i am easy going like mittens, gloves, scarves, tea, word search books but anything would be nice

geekxnerd 11/ 3/2006 #

I would love to participate in this, but I'm too busy before Christmas...sniffle! Great swap idea though!

user4401 11/ 7/2006 #

i am pretty easy i would like anything nice , gloves , scarfs , magazines , anything thats cute !!!

user3481 11/ 7/2006 #

i will love anything i am easily pleased. it will be a great surprise. but like funky, wacky colours not black or white

Farruska 11/ 8/2006 #

A LOT of new swapers ..... and some with no information whatsover on their profile. I worry.

user4537 11/ 9/2006 #

i have a swapper with an empty profile-- it's all about the guess work, i suppose.

Farruska 11/ 9/2006 #

@redhearts I also have one swapper with an empty profile, I was afraid of this. From previous experiences ALL new swapers with no profiles whatsoever turned out to be takers, so as shipping here in Germany is extremely expensive before I even decide on taking the trouble to look for tha package for her/him, I'm contacting the organizer, I need some reassurance that I won't be spending my money with a taker. Unfortunately there are a lot outthere

Farruska 11/ 9/2006 #

all my fears turned reality, I've tried to contact my swap partner asking to fill in her profile to help me choose something she would like, and (not surprising I might say) her email doesn't exist:

"From: Mail Delivery Subsystem
Date: November 9, 2006 3:31:10 PM GMT+01:00 To: farruska@gmail.com Subject: Delivery Status Notification (Failure)

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

 fernvieg@aol.com

Technical details of permanent failure: PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 9): 550 MAILBOX NOT FOUND"

:( It's unbelievable why this sort of things continue to happen.....

Experience tells me we have a little taker around here, I'm sorry but I do not contribute to this type of people, therefore, unless I have some contact from the user in question, I will not be spending one dime or time with her.

To whoever is supposed to receive from the user Fernandinha, I'm sorry ....

One lesson to take from this is: when organizing a swap, please do BAN all users that have bad rating but also those with whom is impossible to communicate from the start.

user960 11/ 9/2006 #

Well, for whoever gets me (I hope you exist ;)), I like gloves, mittens, and wrist/armwarmers, and I love tea and high quality hot chocolate (especially the kind without extra sugar added -- even the "plain" kind with no extra sugar is good :D). My favorite kind of magazine is craft magazines, and I love fantasy novels, craft books, and mysteries. I knit, so yarn is great! And if you send recipies, I especially like baking cookies, bread, and interesting types of muffins.

Thanks! :D

user3481 11/ 9/2006 #

farruska its a shame that you couldn't find out who they were sending to then you could have sent to them instead. if that all makes sense. its such a shame when we get takers. someone always ends up dissappointed

Farruska 11/ 9/2006 #

Hails, I've just suggested that to Jane, but given that this person is not the only one, I've asked also assurance that my partner would not disappoint me. There's just too many cases like this lately and really starts to p*** me offbecause I do not understand how can someone sign up on purpose just to get things and don't send as well. On a old swap, I had 2 persons who had no profile, as organizer I had their e-mails, so contacted in every possible way asking several times before the swap's starting date to fulfill their profile, and didn't got any answer so I banned them before the swap started. Turns out they were really takers, one of them is still "active" with a rating of 1. She's been taking packages and never sending anything. But it's easy on a swap with 8 or 10 people; it's understandable on a swap with 43 people that perhaps not everything can be verified. Just wish people would be more responsible and specially had respect for the others.

Farruska 11/12/2006 #

I'm sorry to continue to be bearer of bad news but it is important for future swaps that they ARE monitorized before the deadline. This takes a lot of time and effort so please before oganizing a swap through swap-bot....

Just read this comment rating on another participant on this swap who has a status of SENT which worried me as well and might as well be alert on whoever is supposed to send to and receive from:

MEMBER: VIVE

AdamW in Assorted Candy Swap -yum- gave a rating of: 1.

Still haven't received anything, although I know she is in Australia, so it may take some extra time. I will update this once something arrives.

UPDATE: Vive has changed her name to Crunch. She e-mailed me saying that she took on more swaps than she could handle, so she just signed up for a new account to "start a new". She will not be sending out the packages for the swaps she signed up for as Vive. Too bad for us.

Farruska 11/12/2006 #

correction to previous remark, user vive is not on this swap but the alert stays for other swaps. There should be a black list of user on swap-bot ...

Farruska 11/13/2006 #

yey! sent to the sweety who was supposed to receive from "fernandinha", as agreed with the swap organizer

Hope she likes it :)

user4807 11/13/2006 #

I am new at this and I already sent a package to maryc but don't know how to mark her as "sent". Help

user3481 11/13/2006 #

haute-nature look in the yellow box and it will say click here when u have sent your item.

user4807 11/13/2006 #

THis is sooo strange but there is nothing that sais that... Could it be because I am using Safari browser for Mac?

Farruska 11/14/2006 #

nope Haute-natue, I'm on Safari -Mac as well .... now doesnt't appear because I already clicked it ;)

you probably clicked it already because you appear as Sent on the participants list ;) http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/view_participants.php?id=1250

user3788 11/14/2006 #

user4807 11/15/2006 #

Mary C--I am glad that you like the "purple" gloves.

user4807 11/15/2006 #

Thanks farruska--I thought it was my swap partner that needed to show "sent"--as if I had sent theirs, but I guess its me that needs the "sent" shown next to my name. I appreciate the feedback.

user4807 11/15/2006 #

mary c--would you please send me a rating so that I can organize a swap...pretty please.

user3788 11/15/2006 #
