This is my first card swap, do we write in the cards or just send them along with a note?

bmyers08: You can do either. If you want to write in them go ahead. I usually send mine blank, in case the person wants to send to someone else. It's entirely up to you. You could also check to see what your partner would prefer if you wish. It's up to you.

I prefer empty - with an envelope I can use to send off to someone else.

Yes, this should be a Type 3 swap.

This swap should be either written to your partner or blank for your partner to use. You should list it as one or the other. It is too confusing this way. Myself I prefer to use my cards to send to others so I will drop this one and find one that is making cards for me to resend.
