Description:

Hello! This is (finally!) the third round of this minizine project! Enjoy!

PLEASE take the time to read all the requirements for this swap before joining.

This minizine project is inspired by The Scribble Project, and the idea is to see how people are changing the same sheet in their own way. We'll do the same, except the final project will be a super cool minizine. You'll see, it's pretty simple.

Step 1) Download the template (ISSUE 3) on the swap homepage (or copy this link in your browser --> http://pumpkin66.webs.com/fillit_issue3.PDF).

Step 2) Print it. It will directly fit to letter size : 8.5 x 11 inches.

Step 3) Doddle/draw/illustrate the sheet in your own way, following the guidelines. You can also write on it, embellish the frame, add colors, collage... whatever you want to personalize your issue.

Step 4) Put the original in the copy machine and print as many copies as you want (at least 5 because you'll have 5 partners).

Step 5) Fold the minizines according to this tutorial.

Step 6) Send one copy to each of your partners!

Your zine will be directly in 1/8 format, with 8 pages including the front and back covers. You are more than welcome to embellish the front and back covers as well. Participants who are new to zines are invited to flickr or google "mini-zine" to have some pictures/inspirations.

SWAP REQUIREMENTS

  • The template for this swap act as a guideline and you have to personalize it with your art skills. That mean you have to put some efforts on this project. People who don't care sending quality zines may not enter or, otherwise, can be rated with a three if the zine is poorly made and no effort has been put in it. The zine can be either in color or b&w as long as there is some kind of art in it. Please be fair with everyone and send something you would like to receive.

  • Take a look at an example here of a completed issue. You must complete and embellish the zine, just not write on it or complete the sentences. Again, the idea here is not like answering a survey but it is to create a little piece of art.

  • You'll have five (5) partners and this swap is international because of the lightweight of the zine who'll fit in a normal sized envelop. Plus, more partners = more zines = more fun!

  • Beginners and long-time zinesters are welcome to joint, as long as newbies with completed profile. Other swappers must have a 4.9+ rating to participate. I'll angel if needed but please no flakers! I reserve the right to ban any suspicious swappers before assigning partners.

If you have any question, feel free to PM me and/or visit the swap homepage on my blog!

Have fun everyone!

papercaper 04/21/2012 #

In one area of the zine it says to draw "a men with a hat".

Did you mean "a man with a hat"?

Or "men with a hat"?

It might sound like a silly question, but I was kinda thinking of drawing 6 men sharing one hat. ;)

Adriann 04/21/2012 #

What a great idea! I would love to join and try my hand at my second zine. Thanks for letting newbies play!

MissPickle 04/22/2012 #

papercaper : Shame on me for this grammatical mistake.. Yes I mean a man with a hat, not MEN. Sorry for this mistake!!

MissPickle 04/22/2012 #

papercaper : it's also written to GLUE so it's a way to include some collages/picture in the zine instead of drawings or doodles. :)

I printed it on A4 paper (8.27 × 11.69inches) so it's a little too long and not wide enough for your measurements... do you have different size standard printing paper in Canada or am I doing it right?

regenboog 04/23/2012 #

This swap sounds amazing!! I would love to join to this great project ^___^''

TerryF 04/24/2012 #

JaguarSnail: In Canada and the US, our paper is 8.5" x 11", which would explain the size discrepancy.

You could try printing it at a slightly reduced size (usually expressed in percentages on the print screen) to make it fit better. Or save it as a pdf and then play around with it to make it fit A4 paper.

Good luck!

Mine is ready! I even printed out one and two to fill in!

JaguarSnail 04/28/2012 #

Thanks @TerryF

I can't for the life of me make the template fit a sheet of A4 paper (which is what I have available in Britain). I'm going to cut the template prompts out and stick them on to my A4 sheet, so they might not be in exactly the same places but they will all be there :)
