Swap description: A Spellbinding Souvenir
You have discovered a portal into the realms of fairy tale, enabling you to sneak into the background of a story without being noticed. You are able to transport a single object back to the real world with you as a souvenir of your visit – what would it be?
Something enchanting!

Snatch a souvenir or memento for each of your partners with a short note explaining in which story you found it, and any interesting snippet of conversation or 'action' you saw or overheard while you were there.

Souvenirs may be hand-crafted or store-bought. If your souvenir is store-bought, please add some kind of personalised/altered/re-packaged element, eg a hang-tag with instructions for use, or a sprinkling of fairy dust.

Store-bought souvenir suggestions:
Perhaps a local stall at the Goblin Market offered a pocket mirror version of the Evil Queen's magic mirror from Snow White, or a handful of beans such as Jack might have exchanged for a cow. Perhaps you stumbled upon the Witch's recipe & instructions for building a gingerbread cottage, or perhaps the elves mistakenly left behind a length of thread and a needle after helping out the shoemaker.

Handmade souvenir suggestions:
Think about how you can adapt your preferred craft into a souvenir. Maybe you encountered a street vendor peddling (handmade) souvenir postcards (or ATCs) of the Emperor's naked shame, or found commemorative artistamps at the local E.P.O. (Enchanted Post Office). Maybe Cinderella's fairy godmother created a trial-run ball gown in miniature, or maybe you found a hand-spun bobbin of 'golden' thread, a la Rumpelstiltskin. Maybe you picked up a mini-zine newspaper report of recent events, or a handbook for reversing a particular curse.

Almost anything goes, so long as it links back to a traditional fairy tale. (Please check out Sur La Lune if unsure what qualifies as a fairy tale.) The above are just suggestions to get your own ideas flowing - please get as creative as you like!

Swap requirements

  • 2 partners = 2 souvenirs sent & 2 souvenirs received
  • Souvenirs may be handmade or store-bought. If store-bought, items must be appropriately altered or re-packaged by you (ie not something already manufactured & marketed as a fairy tale 'prop'). Whether handmade or store-bought, souvenirs must directly relate to a specific fairy tale.
  • In addition, please include a short note explaining to your partner in which story their souvenir was located, it's purpose/use, and anything else relevant you care to add.
  • Souvenirs must be based on a traditional fairy tale.**
  • Send on time!

The obvious bit
Late swaps & low ratings will all be checked before assigning partners. Contact me if you think there might be a problem.

That's a wonderful swap idea. :D Just to make sure I get this right - it's a swap where you send things, not an electronic one (it's marked electronic)?

Yep, just caught that & edited! Thank you (& glad you like the swap!). :)

Just to let swappers know that I will be assigning partners on Weds. Anyone who does not meet the swap requirements will be dropped before partners are assigned so please make sure you are up-to-date with everything if you want to participate. Thank you!
