Description:

This is my first time hosting a swap, so I'm starting small, literally ;)

I've done a couple of whimsey jars now, and I LOVE them, but they can get costly as far as shipping prices go with using larger jars, so why not do a "mini whimsey jar" Think baby-food sized jars (2nd or 3rd stage, I think they're around 4 or 6 oz.) Just fill it with cute happy things that your partner will like such as beads, charms, buttons, little handmade items, anything to make them smile. I've seen tons of cute little items like this at michaels, a.c. moore, joanns and iparty to name a few.

PLEASE NO FLAKERS, IT SPOILS THE FUN FOR EVERYONE!

Thanks and have fun!

Which size jar are you going to use?

BennysMumma 03/20/2012 #

I have a bunch of 2nd stage baby food jars, so I'll be using one of them :)

MizzKodak 04/ 2/2012 #

the smallest jar size I have is 10 ounces

BennysMumma 04/ 2/2012 #

that's fine, you might be able to find smaller ones at acmoore or michaels if you wanted to find something smaller

I dont want to spend the money to buy, I want to use the stuff I have at home, when I looked at the jars I had I really thought they were like 5 ounces each, i had to goggle the product that came in the jar just to make sure and the way the jar is shaped its kinda smallish but oh so cute, so cute in fact you can re use the jar to store things after becasue the lid does not have any writing on it.

I picked up a 2nd stage jar of baby food sweet peas for about $0.50 at Walmart and fed the peas to my dog-she loved it! Much more cost effective than ones at the craft stores here!

BennysMumma 04/ 3/2012 #

that's a great idea!

TechGirl10 04/ 3/2012 #

Should the jar be decorated?

BennysMumma 04/ 4/2012 #

@techgirl10 - it doesn't have to be, but I personally love to receive decorated items, so if you'd like to, go for it! :)

Ooo, Whimsy jars are my favorite! So glad you're hosting one! :)

art3osb 04/ 4/2012 #

I love whimsey jars too but they are small so what is the best way to ship jars that small?

pajaronegro 04/ 4/2012 #

excited for partners!

BennysMumma 04/ 4/2012 #

@art3osb probably if you can find a small box and stuff it full of packing peanuts, newspaper or bubble wrap it would be good

bluecrayons 04/ 5/2012 #

i got my jar for .25 and my niece ate the food.

grammag 04/ 5/2012 #

I just filled mine and I used a boullion jar. It's about the size of a baby food jar, but I like the lid better. It really holds a lot of stuff!

craftysisters3 04/ 8/2012 #

...love whimsey jars but mine is going to be a little bigger as I want to use what I have on hand - hope that's ok:o) just more goodies:o)

thanks for hosting this swap!
