Description:

For this swap, you will have only 1 partner. Once you receive your partner's name when partners are assigned, you will research it and find out what it means. I am sure there are very few names out there that are not on the internet, so hopefully this will be fun for everyone. Once you have researched your partner's name, you will write up a little letter (or type if you prefer, but email does not count) about what you have found and send it to your partner. You will also include one of the following in your package:

--a craft with your partner's name on it, or --some item you have purchased that has your partner's name on it, or --an item that represents your partner's initials or monogram.

These items do not have to be very big. They can be as simple as a bookmark, something crossstitched, etc. Just put some thought into it and send something you would like to receive yourself.

In the unlikely case that your partner has such an unusual name that none of these are possible, then please contact your partner about your difficulties and let them know that you will be making (or purchasing) them an item that is specific to their profile instead. But please only resort to this in the case that you cannot find anything suitable to make/purchase for their name.

I am making this a long swap time since you need to make the item specifically for your partner.

Now for the small print: No newbies. You must have at least 5 completed swaps, at least three of which must be package type, under your belt by the time signups close. Ratings of at least 4.9 with no 1s in the last 6 months and no 3s in the last 3 months. If you have extenuating circumstances, please PM me and we can discuss.

awesome swap! A couple of name sites I've found very helpful in the past:

http://www.behindthename.com/ does a really accurate job of finding the name derivation. Mind you, accuracy isn't always pretty, and I'm firmly in favor of reverse-engineering a new meaning if you want one, but it's a good starting place

http://babynamewizard.com/ has a pretty good name encyclopedia, but is really notable for its NameVoyager and NameMapper, which track historical popularity (in the US) of the most common baby names. It's awesome.
