Description:

A chunky book is a handmade book in which the pages are decorated with dimensional (“chunky”) materials, such as fibers, charms, buttons, etc. They are often a collaborative art project, with pages swapped between artists. The binding is left up to the recipient.

For this swap, we will be creating ONE chunky page for one partner. The theme is LIGHT. Interpretation of the theme is sender's choice; artwork needs to be in keeping with the group's cut+paste collage / mixed media style.

Details:

  • Page size is 4½" wide x 4" tall, with the extra ½" on the left unadorned to allow for binding.

  • Your page needs to be constructed out of sturdy materials, such as recycled cereal box cardboard, mat board, chipboard, etc. The pages should be able to stand on their own in order to support the embellishments & materials you use in your artwork.

  • Make the back of your page interesting, but there's no need to decorate it as highly as the front. Include your name & screen name plus any other details you wish to add.

I hope to be able to do one of these a month throughout 2012. Feel free to join in whenever you wish! Questions? Please ask in the comments below and/or PM me!
