Description:

I read the following in a cookbook this morning:

"Cookbooks were not always as common as they are today. In fact, most recipes were recorded on index cards and stored in boxes and drawers. Family cooks would get together and copy one another's cards."

In the spirit of keeping this "old-fashioned" (Ha!) tradition going, let's do a recipe card swap! In this swap, you will send one partner 3 handwritten recipes, along with a handwritten note of greeting.

Basic Steps:

  1. Hand-write 3 recipes onto 3 separate recipe cards. You may use index cards or recipe cards---store bought or hand made. Please make sure they are of a sturdy enough material to stand up in a recipe box---something like card stock. Recipes must be written in English and in legible handwriting. If you need more than one card for writing out a recipe, please staple or paperclip the cards together so the person receiving them understands that they are all part of one recipe.

  2. Write a note of greeting to accompany the recipes.

  3. Mail to your partner on or before the swap date.

Participants must have no unexplained 1's or 3's.

Well, we can certainly swap old-fashioned recipes in this swap!

I would be hesitant to make it a requirement because what seems old-fashioned to me at 32 probably wouldn't seem old-fashioned to someone in her 70s or 80s!
