Description:

This is only a rough descrption, because I just thought of this idea for a swap! So I might edit the details a bit later.
It's an electronic email swap, but will involve a certain amount of effort.

We aren't supposed to make compilation CDs any more, so the idea instead is to create themed online playlists for your two partners, e.g. on YouTube, and then send them details of their playlist via email.

The twist is that the playlist must be put together with a particular theme in mind - and your partners can choose which theme they would like, from the ones you suggest in the comments below.

NOTE: To make your suggestions appear as a list in the comments box, instead of all squished together, put two spaces at the end of every line & click 'preview' to see how it looks..

Please don't offer something obvious like 'An 80's compilation' or 'My favourite Elvis songs' - there are already plenty of playlists and compilation CDs with those sorts of themes.

At least one of your suggestions must be a random way of linking an eclectic selection of tracks. Examples might be:
"Tracks with a colour in the title"
"Songs with numbers in the title"
"Songs about animals"

At least one suggestion must be a playlist for listening to in a particular situation. Examples might be:
"Songs to listen to when jogging or at the gym"
"Grown-up Songs that little kids will like too"
"Tracks to cheer you up when you're feeling down"
"Relaxing Songs to fall asleep to"

The third suggestion can be either type one or type two.

First, think of what three playlists you might enjoy creating, and write the titles in the comments below. A playlist must contain a minimum of 8 songs, but can contain more.

When partners are assigned, check what three playlists each of your two partners are offering, and PM each of them with the name of the playlist you are requesting.
You will eventually receive a link from each of them to some interesting music to listen to!

The partners who you are supposed to send to will send you a PM asking for one of the playlists you offered, and you will then send them an email containing:
1) The name of the swap and the name of the requested playlist
2) A link to the playlist on www.youtube.com
3) A list of all the track titles and artists in the play list.
This last one is important because sometimes videos on youtube are removed, or not visible in certain countries, so this way, if the worst happens and something on your playlist is 'missing', your partner can still find out what it was.

If your partners both select the same choice, then you can send them both the same playlist, but it's quite likely that they will choose different ones, in which case you will need to compile two different playlists.
I will angel if necessary.

To start the ball rolling, I will offer four possible playlists:
1) Songs about Morning
2) Songs to dance around the kitchen to when you really should be doing something else.
3) Songs to listen to while walking beside a stormy sea, along a deserted beach in winter.
4) Songs where the lyrics are all in languages other than English

You would have a morning songs playlist ;)

Watching for now, but might join in later. Does it need to be a YouTube playlist or would be acceptable to use another playlist site?

Kessie 11/18/2011 #

It doesn't have to be youtube, I just suggested it because it's what I use.
But it does have to be something where you can create a playlist that people in other countries will be able to access, without paying a fee to join or anything.
YouTube has videos, but it could just be a site with music.
I like the idea of a playlist, so you can just listen to all the music your partner chose without having to keep clicking on links for the next track... I'm very lazy!
