Here's a swap for all of us who LOVE giving and receiving little bits to use in our crafting.

The low-down:

You'll have ONE partner.

Take a Valentine heart-shaped box of chocolates - eat all of the chocolates! Decorate the outside of the box. Then fill the box will all kinds of bits and bobbles that your partner can use in their crafting. Check out the picture above for ideas (THANKS sandbeech!!).

Things you could include:

♥ ribbon
♥ buttons
♥ brads
♥ stickers
♥ embellishments
♥ maybe a little something sweet

Check your partner's profile for more ideas.

Make it something you'd LOVE to receive! Nobody likes a skimpy Valentine.

USA only (sorry). Swappers with a 4.9 or higher rating only. Newbies allowed upon approval - contact me before signing up or you'll be dropped.

Feel free to contact me with questions!

I love this idea! Is there a certain size box to use?

CupcakeDD 01/ 9/2008 #

No, but the bigger the box - the more chocolate you get to eat!! :)

I think I'll just throw out the chocolates and fill the box with something better.

I just went over my calender and I am afraid I will have to drop this one which is to my regret. The time constraint isn't working right now and I don't feel I will be able to give "my all" to a partner by the mail date. Sorry for any inconvenience.

CupcakeDD 01/13/2008 #

Thank you for being so considerate! Wish more swappers were like you!! :)

Hi chicas! So my box has 16 built in cells. I used double sided sticky tape for the paper liners so they stay in place. Now how to keep all the bobbles from going everywhere in transit? Hmmmmmm............what are guys doing???

Hola Crafty Chicas. I am excited about this swap, i get to eat a box of chocolates and get a box oa goodies for eating them. haha, LOL.

I am working on a system to keep the goodies in the cups so stay tuned.

Hey there Heart Swappers,

Russell Stovers has a heart chocolate box that has a plastic tray like inner with compartments for each piece of chocolate. This is a great way to keep it all in one place.

CupcakeDD 01/14/2008 #

GREAT question Gigi!
I used a Russell Stovers box with the plastic tray. I also saved the "pad" that came with the box - hopefully that will help keep some of it in place. I imagine there will be some naughty bits that end up sliding around though.
Anyone with other ideas?

I'm not signing up right now, because I don't know if I can make the deadline until some other things get scheduled but... What about foil wrapping things? Some chocolate boxes have wrapped candies inside, sometimes even stuck down with a little something. (Wax, maybe?) That could help keep things from shaking about and add a layer of unwrapping for the recipient to do, which is always fun.

Hmmm...may have to drop. I just realized that I was suppose to decorate the outside of the box. I just had my family engulf all the candy out of my chosen box, but guess what? It is already finished with satin and a bow, it looks kinda sexy just like it is. If it is possible to improve it I will but if not I have to say bye bye. I can't believe I did not see that part of the swap requirement! It is too much to buy another one and already all of us are in diabetic shock from eating candy! Nevertheless this is such a cool idea for a swap and I wish you ladies the best!

LOLA, as long as the outside of the box is "decorated" (by you or the candy co.) and FULL of GREAT stuff, I don't think that anyone would complain. Anyone have any objections?

LeCoreFemme 01/18/2008 #

No objections from me.. :) As for how to keep the goodies in place.. My box came with a paper lining cut in a heart shape that goes on top of the chocolates inside... I am going to cut a piece of bubble wrap to place on top of that to hold things in place. Once the lid is on, it should be enough thickness to hold that liner in place.. Now my problem is... Some of the goodies that I may want to add, won't fit in my little slots.. so I may have to just take out the plastic insert that holds the candy all together and use the baking cups.. In that case, my original plan to hold things in place wont work for me either.. LOL.. Anyone else have ideas in that case.. ;)

CupcakeDD 01/18/2008 #

I'm thinking of lining the inside of my box with fabric and a little batting - not sure if it will work cuz I still want the box to be able to close!! I'll let you know!!

jpwillett 01/22/2008 #

Please forgive me because I am new...I went ahead and sent mine because I have 3 kids and actually had time to myself yesterday...Is it bad to send early? Do most people wait until closer to the send by date?

uniqueutopia 02/ 4/2008 #

I did not keep the cup holder things since I had so much stuff to put in the box that was so much bigger than the hole allowed for the chocolate. I hope my partner doesn't mind I fudged on that part. Speaking of fudge, I dumped out all the chocolates and told my skinny family to eat them as fast as possible while I went grocery shopping. There was nothing left when I got home (whew). I am pregnant with high bp and gave up caffine, salt and candy so it worked out really good :)
