Description:

You will private message your story to your partner through swap-bot mail. Pick one story from your life or one person in your life and tell us about it. minimum 250 words. New swappers welcome. No recent 1s. You have 1 month to write your story.

The idea behind this is: Each story is a memoir. Keep a copy of your stories. If you continually do these, you will build up your memoirs and eventually have enough for a book. I've coached many people to completion of their memoirs using this method of assignments. If you are stuck, Let me know and I'll send prompts. Also, post prompts in the comments if you'd like.

New swappers welcome!

Ideas that are popular when I coach:

what are you passionate about? Describe it in detail. Your readers will appreciate it. This can be hobbies or political stands or just about anything.

romance. Who was/were the great love(s) in your life? Who changed your life by being NOT the one?

man on the moon and other space travel. What were you alive to see? How did it affect your view of the world and universe?

Question: When you were growing up, was there ever an “unofficial” member of your family? Neighbor or family friend?

Mama. Write down a recipe and a memory associated with the recipe that your mother passed down to you.

What is your favorite Vacation spot?

What things have you experienced that your children never will? Example: out houses or chamber pots.

this person was a mentor to me...

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

my family faced this health crisis...

Write your engagement story

Finish this sentence...i regret loosing touch with...

Tell about your spous(es)

What do you remember about the births of your children?

Finish this sentence...i almost married...

First romances.

How has living in the digital age effected your life.

where did you grow up?

what did you want to be when you grew up?

Who was the best teacher you ever had? Why?

What would you like to pass on about your parents? Grandparents? Ancestors?

What values did your parents instill in you? What values do you hope to pass on to future generations?

What were dinners like when you were a kid? When you had kids? Now?

If you need more, PM me. I have several hundred. Only answer 1 when doing the swap. The story you share should be one continuous story

I just wanted to make sure I understand this right: by PM-ing the story, you mean sending it by e-mail, right??

PinkMudd 10/19/2011 #

Im wondering too... is PM "postal mailing" or "private messaging"?

scottishrosefaerie 10/19/2011 #

I'm thinking since its an electronic swap, she means to Private Message to your partner on here.

junemoon 10/19/2011 #

That;s a great list of prompts. The electronic means needs to be clarified before I decide about joining.

i immediately thought of private messages here - but i am not sure either.

it s a nice idea though and i d love to join once this is clarified.

ivykiddo 10/21/2011 #

This is kind of like what I am doing in one of my classes. We are emailing this to our swap partner right?

kristyrogers 10/23/2011 #

Yes, PM is Private message on swap bot because so many get spammed through email.

violin21 10/25/2011 #

Ok that has clarified it for me I shall join, I'm a professional writer so this will be a great swap getting to think about me instead of the characters that I write.

It says you have a month to write your story yet the sign-up deadline and sent deadline are only a week apart?
