Description:

Note: the swap photo above is of a tag, not a rolodex card, but you get the idea

I just got my first ever Rolodex card file for altering Rolo cards. Whahoo!, yet another new obsession. (ok, I will fess up that I also got a couple cool vintage ones off of ebay and etsy too, cuz, you know, I need like 5 of them to hoard, and the vintage metal ones are so cool, but I digress). So, now I am going to need a boat load of cards to start filling them up!

For this swap you will create ONE HALLOWEEN themed Altered Rolodex card for ONE partner.

All mediums are welcome, but must include at least ONE Tim Holtz product, style or technique.

Rolo card should be 2.5" x 4" size for this swap.

Please note that the Rolodex refill cards they sell at the office supply stores are super flimsy, so please use a thicker substrate such as cardstock or very thin cardboard, or glue two pieces of paper together to make it stiffer. Use your best judgement.

Also lightly decorate and sign the back of the card since it will show, especially in a rotary file when it hangs down.

You might want to check with your partner to see which kind of Rolodex file they have, flat, or rotary, as that will determine if the back is signed/lightly decorated upside down or not. In a rotary file the card will hang down (with the notches on top) when the back is displayed.

If you do not have a way to die cut or punch the notches onto the edge of the card, you can let your partner do the punching. Just keep any decorations clear of the area where the card will be punched.

You are NOT required to spend any money for this swap.

However, if you like to be enabled to buy stuff, you may purchase the card notch punch on Amazon.com here , or I've heard you can also get them at office supply stores. You can also find the card files on Amazon, at thrift stores, garage sales, ebay and etsy.

Any subsequent swaps I run for altered Rolo cards will probably not be anywhere near this wordy, but I make no promises.

Please upload your completed Rolo to our Tim Holtz Addicts flickr group.

Great swap idea. @Tynkerbelle kindly sent me a Rolodex die in a private swap to use in my BigShot. Do we put our names and postal address on the back of the card or just our names?

OOh lucky you! I think that die is very hard to come by these days. You can put any info on the back that you normally would use on your ATCs. Lets, at minimum, sign with our artist signature and our swapbot username. You are also welcome to put the other common ATC info like series number, email, or whatever else you personally like to write on the back of your ATCs, but that is not required.
