Description:

I LOVE making and collecting sock dolls! This includes sock monkeys (my faves-and they are named Walter;not PJ!) and all sorts of funy creatures. For this swap I thought it would be fun to send your partner a baggie of parts for them to make their own doll. So:

A pair of funky/fun socks (like those toe socks you got last Christmas and will NEVER wear!). Coordinating felt pieces, buttons, doll eyes, embroidery floss or thread(quilting thread is best-it's much stronger). Anything else you can think of! (I use felt and buttons for most of my doll's eyes-so craft eyes are not a necessity)

You do not need to include stuffing or scissors-I'm trying to keep the weight on our packages down!

There are lots of great books on making sock dolls out there if you need ideas. Also check out my Etsy and Artfire shops.I only mention them because I want you all to see that you don't need to use patterns or make an actual monkey or bunny, for example.I don't use patterns and just make up my dolls as I go!

This should be fun and I hope lots of you will join!

BTW-I don't know if it's really weird or not to comment on your own swap, but (!)

Although the sockdolls in the pic above are about 15" tall;the size of the doll is dependent on the socks and the designer.Unlike dotees (which I also love making!),there are no rules at all! Even single socks can become dolls (I often cut the toe off and give them "wings" instead of arms :D )
